Breastfeeding and Growth Spurts

Sometimes your baby demands to be fed more often as he or she has a growth spurt. This usually happens around 6 weeks of age and again around 3 months.

You may interpret this as a sign that you don't have enough milk. All that is needed is more frequent feeding for a day or so which stimulates more milk production and satisfies your baby's appetite. It usually isn't an indicator that your baby needs formula or solid food.

Remember, it is your baby suckling at your breast that stimulates you to produce more milk.
